According to reports, striking lecturers in public universities and polytechnic across the country have started receiving payment of minimum wage arrears.

The Chairman of FUTMINNA ASUU, Dr Gbolahan Bolarin confirmed this development to newsmen yesterday.

Also, the National President of ASUP, Dr. Anderson Ezeibe said the government has began the payment of arrears to members of the union.

Recall that both ASUP and ASUU are on strike over the reported insensibility of the government towards their demands.

While ASUU had embarked on the strike since February 14, ASUP announced a two weeks warning strike this week.

According to the ASUP chairman, the decision of the government to begin arrears payment is just one of the many demands put forward by the union.
