FG declares April 18, 21 Easter holidays

The Federal Government (FG) has announced Friday, April 18th, and Monday, April 21st, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday.

According to a press statement by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of the interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians nationwide.

While declaring that April 18th and April 21st which are Good Friday Easter Monday respectively, will be observed as public holidays.

However, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of emulating Jesus Christ’s virtues of sacrifice, love, and forgiveness.

The minister further urged Nigerians to use the holiday to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country.

In addition, Tunji-Ojo reassured citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at fostering national growth and development.

He encouraged Nigerians to extend love and goodwill to their neighbors through acts of kindness and generosity, aligning with the administration’s agenda.

The Minister however wished all Christians a blissful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.

He emphasized the significance of Easter in promoting values of love, forgiveness, and compassion, essential for social cohesion and harmony.
