Nearly 50 billion naira has been directly disbursed by the federal government to Primary Health Centres across the country. Muhammed Pate, Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, announced this via his official X handle on Monday.

Additionally, over N20bn has been released for the rehabilitation of 4,362 PHCs across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. The funds financed through the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund aim to provide health services packages and strengthen the country’s health systems.

Pate expressed that this development has led to the qualitative modernisation of health infrastructure across all LGA in Nigeria. Furthermore, he stressed the progress under president Tinubu administration’s health insurance drive.

According to him, the health service enrollment is set to surpass the 2024 record of 2.4 million citizens later this year. Also, more than 37 million visits to PHCs were recorded nationwide in the first quarter of 2025 alone. The minister described the growth as a data-driven re-engineering of the country’s healthcare delivery system.

FG reduces dialysis cost to N12,000 in federal hospitals.

President Bola Tinubu has approved a major subsidy on kidney dialysis in federal hospitals, with a 76 percent reduction. The new policy reduces the average cost of a single dialysis session from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000 across the country.

This was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, on Monday. Bwala emphasized that this approval brings relief to thousands of citizens battling kidney-related diseases.

He added that the adjusted price has already taken effect in ten federal medical centres across the six geopolitical zones. According to him, more federal medical centres and teaching hospitals will be added by year’s end to expand nationwide access.

Last year, the President’s administration also approved free cesarean sections for pregnant women in federal hospitals to improve maternal healthcare.
