The Nigeria Police Force has rescued five kidnapped victims and recovered concealed weapons stock during recent operations in Kebbi and Abia states. The Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the operations were successful through coordinated security operations involving all security agencies.

The operations were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security and protect lives and property across the country. In a statement, Adejobi revealed that three victims abducted in Kebbi State were rescued after operatives tracked the kidnappers to a local government area in the state.

The victims, aged 25, 20 and 35, were freed after a gun battle forced the abductors to flee with injuries.

He added that two other victims, Tukur Bello and Isyaka Abubakar, were also rescued during a routine patrol on August 15. According to him, the duo were kidnapped on August 9 while grazing cattle in Gairi Forest, Zamfara State.

On the Abia state operation, Adejobi explained that the operatives stormed the kidnappers’ hideout in Ukwa West LGA. He stated that five members were neutralized following the gun battle between the operatives and the terrorists.

Subsequently, police recovered six AK-47 rifles, 335 rounds of live ammunition, five handsets, three cutlasses, with other caches of arms. Following this, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, commended the officers for their bravery for the peace of the state.

Egbetokun assured Nigerians that the Police Force remains fully committed to safeguarding lives, ensuring security, and protecting property nationwide. He also urged the security operatives to intensify the ongoing onslaught against criminal actors across the nation.
