Gunmen abduct Ogun traffic official on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

An official of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, identified as Popoola Olasupo have been abducted by unknown gunmen while on his way to his duty post alongside one other member of the corps.

The official was reportedly kidnapped around 6.30 am on Sunday. He was taken around the Eledumare-Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

It was gathered that policemen and some volunteers are currently on the trail of the gunmen.

A member of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps confirmed the development. According to the source, the gunmen emerged from the bush and opened fire on a the commercial bus the official was travelling in. and he was the only one abducted.

As of now, efforts to get the reaction of the spokesperson for TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, has been unsuccessful.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, also confirmed the incident.

“Our anti-kidnapping squad is already after them. We are combing the forest and we know that they will all be arrested.

“Ogun State is not a ground for criminals to settle. It is either they leave or we smoke them out of this state,” Oyeyemi said.
