The Nigerian Meteorological Agency had earlier forecasted thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday to Wednesday, a prediction that came to pass as heavy downpour in Lagos on Tuesday morning disrupted flight operations.

Air Peace, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe, announced delays on some of its flights nationwide, attributing the disruptions to the adverse weather conditions.

“We wish to inform you that due to the heavy downpour of rain in Lagos this morning, some flights across our operating networks will be delayed,” the airline said.

It explained that while the weather was beyond its control, efforts were being made to minimise the impact on passengers. “While weather is beyond our control and safety remains our utmost priority, we appeal for your understanding as we manage the disruptions as best as we can and get you to your destinations safely,” the statement added.

The airline further emphasised its safety record, noting that “safety is not just a priority but a core commitment. We remain dedicated to upholding the highest safety standards for our passengers and crew.”

Passengers were advised to contact the airline via email or phone for updated schedules.

NiMet, in its outlook released on Sunday, had predicted isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains across parts of the north, central, and southern regions, warning of possible flash floods in Adamawa, Taraba, and Gombe states.
