Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi has encouraged corps members posted to the state to shun relocation to other states. The Governor made the statement on Friday during the swearing-in of the corp members in Dutse, the state capital.

According to report, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)  swore in 1,900 members of the 2024 Batch A Stream 1 in the state. While addressing the corps members, Namadi urged them to feel at home and assured them of growth and development throughout service.

He expressed that his administration will create an enabling environment for them to maximize their potential. He added that he will provide support to enhance the capacity of the NYSC  to fulfill its primary mission.

Likewise, Namadi also promised to upgrade the orientation camp and provide a new generator set for the members. He noted that working conditions as well as enhanced security will be provided during their stay in the state.

Furthermore, the state governor revealed plans to launch the foundation ceremony for the construction of a 5000-seater capacity hall in the camp. He expressed that every positive contribution to overcoming the state’s challenges is significant to the development of the state.

The governor therefore encourages the corp members to contribute towards the development of education, and health, among others. Also, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Jidda Dawut, disclosed four cardinal programs designed to build the members for leadership.

Dawut noted that the programs will allow the corps members to be self-reliant and strengthen them for future responsibilities. However, he warned the corps members to desist from drug abuse and any immoral acts that could tarnish the state.

The NYSC coordinator concluded by urging the members to adhere to the camp rules and participate in all activities. He reassured the members that 80 percent of the corp members would be posted to schools across the state.
