A concerned secondary school teacher in Kebbi State has penned an open letter to the Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, seeking urgent intervention in the delayed implementation of promotions for secondary school teachers across the state.
In a letter from a Facebook account Kabbi daily updates, the teacher commended the governor’s administration for its strides in improving education, including infrastructural development and prioritizing teachers’ welfare. However, the letter highlighted a pressing concern: despite receiving promotion letters, many teachers are yet to see the corresponding financial benefits.
In the letter titled An Open Letter To His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), Governor Of Kebbi State, citing a personal example, the writer disclosed that despite being promoted to Level 14, they are still being paid according to their Level 09 salary scale.
This situation, they emphasized, has caused financial hardship for teachers who remain dedicated to shaping the future of Kebbi State’s students.
The letter read, “That said, I feel compelled to bring to your attention a significant concern regarding the lack of implementation of promotions for secondary school teachers. Many of us have received our promotion letters, but the financial adjustments have yet to be made.
“For example, I was appointed in 2008 and have been promoted to Level 14, but I’m still receiving a salary based on Level 09. This situation is disheartening and has led to financial strain for many dedicated teachers who are committed to shaping the future of our students.”
The teacher urged Governor Idris to direct the Ministry of Finance to expedite the financial implementation of these promotions, stressing that such action would boost teachers’ morale and enhance the quality of education in the state.
“This action would not only uplift teachers’ spirits but also significantly improve the quality of education in Kebbi State. We have faith in your leadership and your dedication to fairness and justice,” the letter stated.
“Your intervention in this matter would greatly enhance teachers’ morale and contribute to a more effective education system. Thank you once again for your relentless efforts to improve the education sector” the letter plead.
