The Nigerian Correctional Service(NCoS) has dismissed the news making rounds that husband of the late Osinachi singer and a suspected Kidnap kingpin, Hamisu Bala had escaped from Kuje prison during the jailbreak that occurred on July 5.

The Public Relations Officer of NCoS, FCT command, Mr. Chukwuedo Humphrey informed the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday that the two were still in custody.

Some media reports had alleged that the singer’s husband fled during the July 5 attack. It was reported that about 879 inmates were freed during the attack on the custodial center.

According to Humphrey the clarification became important following publications dispersing online that Hamisu and Osinachi’s husband escaped.

“The story is false, reckless, and mischievous. They are still in custody. Efforts are ongoing to recapture all fleeing inmates. The Controller-General, NCoS, Haliru Nababa, is determined to continue to upscale the inmates’ welfare and safety,” Humphrey said.
