Kwara State University (KWASU) Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has promised enhanced welfare packages for students. The erudite scholar made the disclosure on Tuesday during a meeting with student leaders on the university campus.
In his revelation, the VC discussed how the school management has introduced new measures and policies to combat excess fees and extortion on the student policies. The vice chancellor asserted that the initiative will ease the burden on the students while contributing to the development of the university.
Furthermore, the VC went on to discuss how comrades and opinion leaders must collaborate with the management to ensure the safety and welfare of the students. Meanwhile, the meeting surfaced shortly after the university management unveiled 3 projects in 2 neighboring communities of the institution.
In a post, KWASU provided insights into the new projects. As revealed, the vice chancellor confirmed that the students of the university built solar-powered boreholes in Okete and Gbugudu communities.
Professor Jimoh commended the students for the successful project, discussing how it will help boost access to potable water in the communities. Lastly, the VC said he’s anticipating the next development-driven initiatives by the students and staff of the university to its host communities.
JAMB denies KWASU permission to run law degree program for 2025/2026 session
It is worth mentioning that KWASU is one of the 8 institutions restricted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for admission to law (LL.B) program.
Jamb spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin confirmed that the university will not admit students into the program for the 2025/2026 academic sessions.
Other affected institutions include Bingham University (Nasarawa state), Redeemers University (Osun), Western Delta University (Delta), Arthur Jarvis University (Cross River), Alex Ekwueme Federal University (Ebonyi), and Nigerian Police Academy (Kano).
Benjamin explained that the suspension is an attempt by the Council Of Legal Education (CLE) to ensure compliance among Nigerian universities. More so, he failed to establish the cause of the suspension,
