Lagos State Government has delivered three new train sets of 12 coaches for the Blue Line rail in Lagos. The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu announced this on his social media page “X” formerly known as Twitter.
According to him, the new achievement will make trips comfortable for everyone using the Blue Line rail. The Governor continued by noting that his government is making efforts to make daily transportation less stressful and reliable.
He affirms that by 2026, the railway line would have extended to other areas, enhancing the city’s transportation. Two months ago, the blue railway line achieved a major milestone, transporting over two million passengers since its launch.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed this during the 2025 ministerial press briefing in Lagos. The briefing marked the second anniversary of Sanwo Olu’s second term and outlined key accomplishments of the agenda themes.

According to the Commissioner, the state transport policy has been implemented fully, with a focus on safety, affordability and inclusivity. Osiyemi revealed that phase 1 of the railway line served over two million passengers, with phase 2 construction in progress.
He adds that state-owned buses in the state have transported over 60 million passengers since 2019. Osiyemi continues that new buses are set to be deployed with several bus corridors in construction.
Osiyemi Highlights Key Infrastructure Projects Across Lagos State
The Commissioner also brought up the Abule Egba bus terminal, noting that it will improve transit service along the area. Talking about water transport, Osiyemi disclosed that ferry services have catered to over 280,000 passengers within the last year.
He concluded by noting major developments in the traffic and road infrastructure of the state. The Commissioner revealed that road construction works are ongoing at ikorodu and other areas of the state.
According to him, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has trained over 800 personnel, including other revitilization projects.
