The Nigeria Alumni Network of the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, over the weekend, rolled out a red carpet to honour the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ondo State, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan revealed this in a statement on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

The Governor was bestowed with an award in political and business leadership, in recognition of his contributions to nation-building, public service excellence and social entrepreneurship.

The event took place at the annual event of the University of Liverpool Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) in Lagos on Saturday.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, who is also an alumnus of the University of Liverpool, was hailed for being a good ambassador of the institution.

Reacting, the Governor thanked the leadership of the alumni association for the recognition, saying the award is a challenge to do more.

“I want to thank the leadership of the University of Liverpool, Nigeria Alumni Network (Lagos/Southwest Zone) for putting this together. Honestly, I am so delighted to be here, not because of the award but to see every one of you once again.

“We continue to put in our best as much as we can for humanity, the development of our society and the empowerment of our people and I want to thank you for recognising our modest efforts,” the Governor said.

The Coordinator of the group, Dr. Joy Dorcan, in her welcome remarks, said the event was an avenue for members of the alumni to network and bond with one another.
