Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to quality education and international collaboration as the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, addressed participants at the European Union Students Fair.

The event, held on Saturday at the Federal Palace Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, provided students from Lagos State-owned institutions and others with the opportunity to explore educational prospects in Europe.

In his speech, Commissioner Sule emphasized the importance of global partnerships in enhancing education standards. “We are committed to providing our students with access to quality education, both locally and internationally. Our partnership with the European Union is a testament to the current administration’s dedication to excellence in education,” he said.

He highlighted various initiatives introduced by the state government to improve the quality of graduates from its tertiary institutions. These include the EKO Digital Skills Programme and Job Initiative Lagos, which equip students with digital skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, artificial intelligence training, digital marketing expertise, coding, and job readiness.

The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Ambassador Gautier Mignot, urged students to seize the opportunity to study in European universities, noting that many Nigerian students are already benefiting from such programs.

The European Union Students Fair is part of the EU’s broader efforts to promote educational exchange and cooperation between Nigeria and Europe. The event featured exhibitions from top European universities, providing students with valuable insights into academic and career development opportunities abroad.
