Man arrested for killing mother with stick in Cross River

The Cross River state police command has arrested a man for killing his mother with a stick. The man identified as Mathias Amunde is reported to reside in Obudu Local government of the state.

The suspect, while being investigated by newsmen stated that he and his accomplice fled after disposing of his mother’s body inside a well.

He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed him, Walcot dragged him out of the house and we jointly dragged him to the well.

“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”

The state Police public relation officer, Irene Ugbo confirmed his arrest.

“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation on Tuesday (today),” Ugbo said.
