New Andoni LG administrator vows to sanction indolent workers
The newly appointed Sole Administrator of Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State, Mr. Atajit Francis, has vowed to instill discipline and promote a results-driven work culture among council staff.
Shortly after assuming office at the council secretariat in Ngo, Francis held a meeting with Heads of Local Government Administration where he expressed displeasure over reports of negligence in the system. He warned that underperformance and laxity would no longer be tolerated.
“While we are on the saddle, we shall reward diligence and hard work. We urge staff to work towards achieving set goals,” the administrator said.
He noted that the role of local government was critical to driving grassroots development, and as such, all staff must demonstrate commitment and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

“My mandate is clearly specified, they include sanitation, environmental development, job creation, primary education and primary health care,” he said.
“The essence is to positively impact the lives of our people, knowing that the local government is the closest tier of government to the people.”
He further stressed the need for transparency, ethical conduct, and accountability among the workforce, describing them as key ingredients for effective service delivery.
“So, I expect all staff to uphold the highest ethical standards and accountability in the discharge of their duties,” he added.
Mr. Francis is among the 23 local government administrators recently appointed by the Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd).
