The newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Finance, Mahmud Alao, has assured Lagosians of his commitment to aligning with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s developmental agenda while driving financial transparency and efficiency in governance.

Alao, a seasoned financial expert and civil servant with over three decades of experience in public finance, accounting, and administration, officially assumed office on Friday, March 21, 2025.

According to a statement on the LASG official X account on Friday, March 21, 2025, his appointment shows the state government’s commitment to strengthening financial transparency, accountability and efficiency in governance.

Speaking during a brief ceremony to mark his assumption of duty, Alao expressed gratitude for the warm reception from the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Abayomi Oluyomi, as well as the ministry’s management and staff.

In addition he pledged to work diligently in line with the state government’s vision, emphasizing the need for innovation in revenue generation and financial administration.

“I am honored to take on this responsibility, and I assure you that I will work tirelessly to support the governor’s agenda for a more prosperous Lagos,” Alao said. “We must embrace innovative strategies to boost internally generated revenue and enhance financial governance in the state.”
