The newly appointed Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), Dr. Mohammed-Aminu Mohammed, has pledged to fast-track the digitization of the board’s examination processes to enhance efficiency, security, and transparency.

Speaking during his assumption of office at NABTEB’s headquarters in Benin on Thursday, Dr. Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to improving the conduct of examinations while also prioritizing staff welfare and capacity building.

He announced that, beginning in 2026, the board would introduce computer-based examinations for all candidates to modernize the assessment process.

“We will accelerate the digitization of our examination processes, from registration to result processing and certificate issuance. This will minimize human errors, reduce processing time, and enhance the overall efficiency of our operations,” he stated.

To safeguard the integrity of NABTEB’s examinations, Dr. Mohammed revealed plans to implement advanced security measures such as biometric verification, encrypted question papers, and real-time monitoring systems. He stressed that these innovations would strengthen credibility and prevent malpractices.

Aligning his vision with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, he emphasized the importance of technical and vocational education in national development.

He assured stakeholders that his leadership would work towards positioning NABTEB as a key player in equipping Nigerian youths with relevant skills for the evolving job market.

He said, “As we gather here today, I am reminded of Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasises the importance of technical education in driving national development and economic growth.

“As the Registrar of NABTEB, I am committed to aligning our efforts with this vision, ensuring that our programmes and initiatives contribute to the realisation of this noble goal.”

However, Mohammed further promised to create a more conducive working environment for staff, ensure timely promotions, and give grants for technical and vocational education.

His appointment was welcomed by NABTEB’s Director of Special Duties, Olugbenga Ojogbede, who described him as a leader with the experience and vision to drive the board to greater heights.

Onigbese also expressed confidence that Dr. Mohammed’s leadership would foster a fair and credible examination system.

“With your wealth of experience, vision, and dedication, we are confident that you will steer this board to even greater heights. We know that the responsibilities ahead are enormous, but we also know that your passion for technical and vocational education and training and your strategic insights will guide us in fostering a fair and credible examination system,” The NABTEB director of special duties said.
