Nigeria Army reveals 1,627 terrorists surrender in 3 weeks

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said that 1,627 terrorists surrendered as troops rescued 63 civilians held captive by terrorists, killing 60 terrorists, bandits, and other economic saboteurs even as it arrested 38 others during operations across the country.

This was made known to newsmen by the Director of Defense Media, Major General Bernard Onyeuko, while briefing newsmen on the operations of the armed forces from 28th April to 19th May in Abuja on Thursday. He said 53,626 terrorists surrendered so far as at 19th of May.

According to him, the troops apprehended one Mallam Modu Goni Pantami at the remote part of Benishied Village in the Kthe aga local government area, while trying to convey a large quantity of logistics items to the terrorists.

He disclosed further that during the operation, the troops were able to rescue 63 civilians, neutralized 43 terrorists, and got another 20 terrorists apprehended.

Furthermore, The Director of Defense Media disclosed that drugs, food items, Wears, caftans, ammunition, and logistics items were recovered during the operations from the terrorists.

Onyeoku explained further that, in operation Whirl SStroke the troops eliminated 13 bandits and seized 27 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition, a motorcycle, and 8 mobile phones.
