An Army Personnel has beaten up a police officer who threatened to shoot him, amidst harassment. This incident happened on Otukpo Ufia Road in Benue state on Thursday.

In a video posted online by Sahara Reporters on Thursday, the soldier was seen confronting the policeman, daring him to shoot.

According to reports, the soldier whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was traveling home when he encountered the policemen. During the back and forth, one of the policemen threatened to shoot him, leading to the altercation.

Meanwhile, a violent clash recently ensued between armed operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Mobile Police (MOPOL). The clash which occurred at a mining site in Ondo state, resulted in injuries and abduction of two police officers.

According to reports, the incident occurred at about 4:15pm on Wednesday, at Ade-Olap Global Resources Ltd along the Ore- Sagamu Expressway in Ondo state. As indicated by a police signal, the MOPOL personnel were on guard duty at the site when the NSCDC operatives arrived in a convoy, heavily armed.

It was reported that the NSCDC officers were identified to be on a national assignment with officials from the Ministry of Mines. The officers allegedly tried to disarm the MOPOL officers without prior notification.

This led to a brawl between the security forces in which an NSCDC officer was shot in the leg. In return, two MOPOL officers were reportedly abducted by the NSCDC officers.

According to the signal, efforts are currently underway to de-escalate the situation and secure the release of the abducted officers. Meanwhile, the injured NSCDC officer is said to be receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
