University leaders at JAMB 2025 policy meeting have set the minimum university entry score for 2025 at 150 earlier today. This implies universities nationwide cannot admit candidates who score less than 150 in the 2025 tertiary matriculation exam.

However, institutions like the University of Ibadan, the University of Lagos, and Pan-Atlantic University set their threshold to 200. According to reports, some private universities proposed 120, which was rejected by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The registrar of the board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede had suggested a minimum benchmark of 160 during the meeting.

Over 58,000 Applicants Choose LASU in 2025

JAMB has announced Lagos State University (LASU) as the most preferred institution for admission in 2025. The university has officially overtaken the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), which had the highest number of applicants for years.

This was released during the ongoing policy meeting by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board today. The data shows that LASU is in second position with a total of 58,645 applicants, while Unilorin has 56,758 applicants.

The report shows UNILORIN remains the top choice for candidates, owing to its uninterrupted calendar, unlike other public institutions.
