Nine Person dies in Gombe Auto crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe has confirmed the death of nine following an auto crash in the state on Wednesday night.

FRSC Corps commander, Gombe district, Felix Theman, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria. According to Theman, the crash occurred at Bomala junction bye-pass around 08:40 pm.

Theman stated the accident was an effect of brake failure from a truck conveying vegetable oil.

Twenty people were confirmed to be involved in the accident with 11 nurturing various degrees of injury. Injured persons were taken to Gombe Specialists Hospital and Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe(FTGH).

Similarly, seven bodies were deposited at the specialist hospital morgue and two at the FTHG mortuary.

Mr. Theman further revealed that 21 vehicles were involved in the accident including tricycles and motorcycles. He warned motorists against speed, particularly in residential areas. He added that the speed limit for such an area should not surpass 40km/h.

The corps commander also admonished occupants of the state to prioritize their safety and desist from transgressing on roads.
