In a bid to enhance capacity building and foster professionalism within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Force has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the GS Foundation to implement an Fdvanced Facilitators Training Program.

The training, according to the statement made available on the X account (formerly Twitter) by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPPO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was designed to improve the instructional and leadership capabilities of police officers.

According to the statement, the training was held at the National Institute of Police Studies (NIPS), Abuja and structured into two sessions, running from February 10th to 15th and February 17th to 22nd, 2025.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, at the opening ceremony was Commissioner of Police, Department of Training and Development, CP Rashad B. Afegbua.

CP Agegbua while emphasizing the importance of continuous training said it for reforming the police force and improving service delivery.

However, the CP noted that Participants were carefully selected based on their exceptional performance in the Basic Facilitators Program, ensuring that only the most qualified officers benefit from the advanced training.

“The training participants were carefully selected based on their outstanding performance in the Basic Facilitators Program. This advanced program aims to further equip them with high-level facilitation skills, enabling them to serve as facilitators to other officers, thereby ensuring a sustainable capacity-building framework within the Force”, he said.

“The initiative seeks to equip officers with advanced facilitation skills, empowering them to train their colleagues and promote a sustainable capacity-building framework within the Force. This move aligns with the NPF’s broader goal of fostering excellence, professionalism, and effective policing across the country”, he said further.

The NPF however, expressed gratitude to the UNDP and the GS Foundation for their invaluable support in sponsoring the program. Their contributions, according to the Force, are instrumental in reinforcing the police’s commitment to reform and improved public service.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, fCAI, the Force Public Relations Officer, reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to continuous personnel development as a catalyst for effective policing and national security improvement.
