The deployment of 5,200 personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps across the federal capital Territory for the Easter celebrations has been announced.

The FCT Commandant of the corps Olusola Odumosu, made this known through a statement by the command spokesperson, Idoko Samuel, on Tuesday that assured the stand of maintaining peace and order across the FCT and its environs during the coming holidays.

According to Odumosu when addressing principal officers in Abuja, he noted that due to the intelligence gathered, there is a possibility of attack this season in the federal capital, the command had deployed personnel around the FCT for due surveillance and intelligence gathering to foil such planned attack.

The command has also deployed all special squads such as the Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Crack Squad (operation Adaka-su), and Agro Rangers to ensure the maintenance of law and order.

He further claims that the commitment of the Corps is to ensure the safety of critical national assets, including the lives and property of the people of Abuja.

“There is no room for carelessness and overzealousness while carrying out your duties during this season. You must abide strictly by the operational order, harassing innocent residents who are going about their lawful business will not be tolerated.”

Odumosu now pleads that the residents and people of the FCT should feel calm while they enjoy their holidays, however, the command will carry out security duties in all places of worship, markets, shopping malls, motor parks, and flashpoints during the holiday.

He warned miscreants and vandals that personnel of the NSCDC would not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anyone caught or found culpable.
