Olubadan to make first public appearance since coronation

According to a family source, the newly appointed Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin is set to make his first public appearance by meeting with the Kingmakers today. As revealed, the new monarch has been unable to meet with the kingmakers due to age-related illness. Hence, the issue has generated huge controversies, compelling the new Olubadan to meet with the chiefs. 

There are concerns over the fitness of the monarch which has raised questions over the succession system of Olubadan. Ever since the death of the late Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, the new king, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has not made a public appearance. Now, according to the family source, the new monarch is set to make a public appearance for the first time. 

The source stated that anytime from now, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin will make a public appearance. While responding to questions about the state of the monarch, the source explained that the new Olubadan is hale and hearty. He added that Kabiyesi is at his house in Alalubosa. 

Recall that the 42nd Olubadan, the late Olalekan Balogun died on March 14, 2024, at the age of 81. The monarch died a few days after celebrating his 2nd year on the throne. Additionally, the king died after being admitted to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. Shortly after the death of the king, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin was appointed as the new monarch of Ibadan.
