Following the abduction of Nelson Adepoyigi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward chairman in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, two individuals who reportedly took N5 million and food items as ransom from his abductors have been seized.

According to The Hope, the kidnappers, who had earlier reduced their initial demand from N100 million to N5 million with a demand for food supplies, have now made a fresh demand of N30 million to secure the release of the three captives, which included Adepoyigi and the two ransom bearers, Bayode Loco and Isimeri.

Sources told The Hope Metro that the latest incident has thrown the family and political associates of the abducted party chieftain into fresh panic.

A local source who pleaded anonymity said: “Those who took the ransom to them, as agreed during negotiations, were held by the same kidnappers.

“They have now turned around to demand a fresh N30 million before they can release all three of them.”

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ose Local Government Area, Hon. Kolapo Oja, has confirmed the earlier negotiation in an earlier interview, saying the ransom had been reduced to N5 million and food items.

Kolapo expressed concern over the turn of events and appealed for calm while security efforts intensified.

Adepoyigi was kidnapped on Monday night around 10 p.m. while attempting to park his car at his residence in Ifon.

“He was reportedly beaten and dragged away by his abductors.

The family members, political leaders, and the local government authorities continue to appeal for the safe return of the APC chieftain and the release of the two additional captives.
