The people of Irese community in Ifedore local council of Ondo state bemoaned the lingering blackout that has ravaged the community since five months ago.
The youths of the community trooped out in large numbers to demonstrate against the blackout yesterday, calling for the swift intervention of the state government.
They barricaded all major roads with woods, and tables to avert vehicular movements into and out of the Ondo community.
According to one of the protesters, identified as Ifeoluwa Olomofe, the lingering blackout has unfortunately enhanced criminality and insecurity within the community.
He further that so many businesses have been crippled within the community owing to the menace of the blackout, thereby calling on the Ondo government to come to their rescue.
However, the BEDC Spokesperson, Akure Branch, Mr. Michael Barnabas, in his reaction revealed that transformers in the community were damaged by vandals who stole some oil from them, stressing that the issue would soon be resolved.
