Ondo police arrest 100 suspected criminals across the state

The Ondo state police command has confirmed the arrest of not less than 100 men who engaged in various criminal activities across the 18 local government area in the state.

According to report, the suspects were involved in murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, unlawful possession of drugs and theft among others.

The Ondo state commissioner of police, Mr Adebowale Lawal, confirmed this development in a statement released on Sunday.

He noted that the arrest was made possible through the command’s effort and the cooperation of the residents of the state who provides the police with the necessary information.

The statement reads, “In the past weeks, our command has recorded remarkable breakthroughs in crime prevention, detection, and prosecution—achievements that reflect not only the gallant efforts of our officers and men, but also the invaluable cooperation of the good people of Ondo State.

“We have arrested a total number of 100 suspects who are involved in crimes such as murder (1), kidnapping (4), armed robbery (11) , cultism (45), unlawful possession of substances suspected to be hard drugs (16), fraud/obtaining under false pretense (1), theft/stealing and receiving stolen property (5), vandalization (3), vehicle-related crimes (4), arms supplier/illegal possession of ammunition (1), and other robbery-linked suspects (9).

“We have also recovered some items from the suspects including locally made guns ( 5), ammunition, 30 rounds of AA cartridges, unregistered/forged vehicle documents (15), stolen vehicles (3), motorcycles ( 8),
impounded/contravened vehicles (15), fake/unauthorised number plates (including government and spy), assorted stolen items (mobile phones, pressing irons, SIM cards, mattresses, jewelries, among others.

“The successes recorded were made possible by the strategic direction of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, whose visionary leadership continues to inspire professionalism within the force.”
