According to reports, Oriyomi Hamzat, a Nigerian journalist and Managing Director of Agidigbo 88.7FM has been arrested by Nigerian Police.

Oriyomi Hamzat was said to have been arrested on Thursday morning, following the invitation he received from the Force Intelligence bureau of Nigeria police.

The State Intelligence Bureau of Nigeria police force, Eleyele in a letter signed by CSP Peter Ajogwu, Oyo state officer in charge of SIB invited Hamzat to its office on Tuesday, May 24 at 11 am.

However, Hamzat upon arrival to Eleyele Ibadan was arrested and transferred to officials of FIB, who moved him to Abuja on Thursday morning.

Further investigations reveal that Hamzat’s arrest was a result of a petition by Hilton hotel and Resorts chairman, Rahmln Adedoyin. The petitioner, Adedoyin is currently facing trial along with six of his employees over the alleged Murder of OAU postgraduate student, Timothy Adegoke.

According to reports, Adedoyin petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police. He claimed defamation, false alarm, accusation, and illegal interference with police investigation and judicial proceedings.

Adedoyin’s letter through his lawyer was addressed to Deputy Inspector General, Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Area 10 Garki FCT, Abuja.

Adedoyin’s Lawyer identified as Ahmed Aderoju lamented against criminal defamation, false alarm, incitement, false publication, and Cyberstalking against him by the Agidigbo director, Hamzat.

Others included in the petition list are Babagbade Imo, Woibi, le and IJKFMB Music Yard.

Speaking to Newsmen, Hamzat staff stated he was handed over to FIB after honoring SIB invitation and transported to Abuja from Lagos Airport.
