The Osun State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Yinka, following the sudden death of his girlfriend, Bidemi Omole, who died in his residence in Esa-Oke, Osun State.

It was gathered that Bidemi had arrived at her boyfriend’s house on Friday evening but later developed a health complication that led to her death around 9:30 pm.

Her death threw the Oke Esa community into confusion, as residents trooped to the house in shock when news of the incident spread.

A resident, who identified herself as Taye, said the deceased passed away shortly after getting to Yinka’s house.

She explained, “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. But before I got to the scene, a lot of people were already there.

“I saw some security personnel, but the crowd was a bit much, and it was already late.

“The deceased was believed to be heading for vigil as of the time the death occurred. She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have arrested the boyfriend. He is with them already.”

Confirming the development on Sunday, the spokesperson of Osun Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the incident was reported to the police on Saturday, adding that investigations had begun.

Ojelabi stated, “The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole, went to her boyfriend’s house, also located in Esa-Oke.

“The boyfriend is identified as Yinka. From what the boyfriend told us, the deceased took ill after arriving at the house and started vomiting.

“She was rushed to a hospital, but on the way, she gave up the ghost.

“The suspect is already with the police. Autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of the death.”
