The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC), Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, Osun State, has received a major boost in its healthcare delivery following the donation of a fully equipped dialysis centre by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye.
The facility, which was commissioned on Thursday as part of activities marking the hospital’s 50th anniversary, is the 13th dialysis centre donated by the church across Nigeria under its Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The centre comes equipped with three dialysis machines and beds, a water reverse osmosis purification system, a 30 KVA generator, air conditioners, and other support equipment aimed at improving kidney care in the region.
Project commissioning
Representing Pastor Adeboye at the commissioning, the RCCG Assistant General Overseer, Pastor Funso Odesola, decried the increasing trend of political leaders seeking medical treatment abroad instead of strengthening Nigeria’s health institutions.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye is leading by example. It is unfortunate that those who make the policies cannot trust the healthcare system they oversee. Rather than jetting out of the country for treatment, our leaders should invest in our hospitals,” Odesola said.

He added, “What we have, let’s improve it. It’s shameful that an average Nigerian, including lawmakers, cannot confidently access care in their own country.”
CSR’s response
Also speaking at the event, the Coordinator of RCCG’s CSR efforts, Pastor Kayode Pitan, who was represented by Dr. Bayo Olugbemi, disclosed that the church has spent over N110 billion on healthcare facilities and social impact initiatives across Nigeria in the last eight years.
According to him, the dialysis centre in Ilesa is part of the RCCG’s broader commitment to addressing critical healthcare needs.
He noted that over 207 million Nigerians have benefitted from the church’s various CSR interventions.
“To the glory of God, this centre is the 13th dialysis facility we are donating. Other states that have benefited from similar projects include the Federal Capital Territory, Bauchi, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Borno, Enugu, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti, Anambra, and now Osun,” he said.
He further noted that RCCG has also donated Intensive Care Units (ICUs) to hospitals in Lagos, Plateau, Ondo, and Ogun states.

OAUTHC’s remark
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Dr. John Okeniyi, commended the church for the gesture and called on other faith-based and private organisations to support the health sector through similar partnerships.
“Globally, individuals and families support the health sector. I trained in Israel, and the facility where I trained was built by a single family.
This is the way to give back, not because the giver needs the facility, but because humanity deserves better,” Okeniyi stated.
Governor’s remark
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Mr. Jola Akintola, lauded the RCCG and the Adeboye family for their compassion and sustained investment in the well-being of Nigerians.
“This gesture is not just timely but also a call to action for others in the private and religious sectors to join hands with the government to build a more robust health system,” the commissioner said.
The event formed part of a series of activities to commemorate the golden jubilee of OAUTHC, a frontline tertiary hospital serving the South-West region and beyond.
