The Plateau Police command has debunked rumors of a human part market in the state, claiming that there are no intelligent reports to back them.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr Alfred Alabo said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Jos.
Alabo stressed that there was no information or evidence of cannibalism or human parts market in the state. He also affirmed that only minimal cases of ritual killings have been recorded in the state by the Police.
However, he admitted that has been a rise in cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultist activities, among other crimes.
The PPRO also confirmed the operations of internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, stressing that a lot of them get involved in killing and harvesting human parts for their rituals.
He added that this is on the directive of native doctors who promise them good luck charms and immunity to arrests.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, Rev. Fr. Polycarp Lubo attested to the police’s claims of minimal cases of ritual killings in Plateau.
Lubo however, enjoined parents to warn their wards against joining cultist groups or indulging in other criminal activities like internet fraud.
Furthermore, he called on religious leaders nationwide to preach against ritual killings
