Nigeria Police Force has arrested a Nigerian and a Canadian national for their roles in a series of cyber and financial crimes. Robert Harms, a Canadian citizen and a Nigerian, Okeke Njaka, were involved in a $210, 000 scam and a 452 million naira fraud scheme.

According to the NPF public relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspects were arrested on separate operations orchestrated by INTERPOL operatives. The Canadian national was arrested over a fraudulent scheme of a company in Akwa Ibom state called Tepison Enterprises.

Police Investigations revealed that Robert Harms was introduced to the company through a Polaris bank account officer in June 2023. Afterward, Harms allegedly convinced the company to invest in a fake energy project in Canada, with a return of $30,000 within four weeks.

Further Investigation showed that the suspect had forged a loan agreement and transferred the funds to an account in Dubai. Harms also fabricated a claim with VDQ NRG Systems Limited which was later denied by the company’s CEO.

The Canadian national was nabbed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on February 7, 2025, while attempting to flee to Canada. According to the police, the suspect admit to receiving the money and violating the investment agreement.

Harms was subsequently arraigned at the Federal High Court in Uyo on May 9, 2025, and remanded until May 20.

Similarly, INTERPOL has re-arrested Okeke Njaka, who is wanted for cybercrimes and broad-based financial fraud. The Nigerian national was first arrested in January over allegations including cyberbullying, and cyberstalking, among others.
