The Nigerian Police has assured political parties conducting their primaries at the end of this month of adequate security.

This assurance is coming in reaction to the lingering tension as regards the ongoing demonstrations by students of tertiary institutions across the country.

Recall that the students had earlier this month threatened to storm the venues of primaries if the government fails to resolve the impending ASUU crises.

The APC has fixed its presidential primary for May 29 and 30 while the PDP scheduled its primary for May 28 and 29. Both are to be held in Abuja.

The PRO of the Police command, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that a directive has been made by the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja to beef up security at the two primaries. According to him, the force has put adequate deployment of human and material resources to ensure smooth conduct of the primaries.
