The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, pushing the new deadline to August 12, 2025.

This decision, approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, follows widespread concerns and feedback from members of the public regarding the reactivation of the digital application process for the permit.

In a statement released on Saturday, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force noted that the extension reflects its ongoing commitment to transparent and citizen-focused policing, as well as its responsiveness to the voices of Nigerians.

“The Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process to ensure it remains user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all,” the statement read.

The police also explained that the extra time will allow for further enhancements to the application process to ensure no citizen is unfairly disadvantaged.

According to Adejobi, improvements are being made to both physical and digital (contactless) application options. These include better verification systems and streamlined procedures designed to reduce delays and eliminate avoidable inconveniences.

The authorized platform for the application and renewal of the Tinted Glass Permit remains www.possap.gov.ng, the police reiterated.

The IGP in the statement, urged citizens to to report any cases of extortion, unauthorized charges, or irregularities encountered during the application or biometric capturing process.

Reports of such incidents can be directed to appropriate police authorities or through the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

The statement said, “citizens are also encouraged to report all unauthorized or hidden charges as well as extortion in the course of application or biometric capturing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.”

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery, and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are carried out,” the NPF said.
