The Nigeria Police Force has announced a further extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for vehicles with tinted windows, shifting the commencement date to October 2, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, the decision was approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM.
The Police Force explained that the extension became necessary following a significant rise in applications submitted through its official portal, an indication of growing public compliance with the directive.
The statement noted that the extra time will enable the Police to thoroughly scrutinize applications to ensure that only eligible and qualified persons are granted permits, in line with national security concerns.
It added that the period would also be used to further fine-tune both digital and physical verification processes to safeguard the integrity of the permit system and prevent possible abuse.
