Ondo State Police Command in a burst of an interstate motorcycle theft ring has recovered seven stolen motorcycles in a coordinated operation.
Police sources, in The Hope’s report revealed that the development followed a complaint lodged on August 29 by Mr. Boluwaji Samuel, a resident of Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State.
Samuel recounted that his blue NEO NX TUS Lady’s motorcycle, worth N500,000, was stolen from his residence on August 20.
Upon receiving this report, detectives traced the stolen motorcycle to two suspects, identified as Oluwafemi Benjamin and one Seyi in Akure.
The Hope gathered that subsequent investigations led to the arrest of an additional suspect in Owo, where six more motorcycles, believed to have been stolen from various locations within and beyond Ondo State, were recovered.
Seven motorcycles, in total, were retrieved from the suspects, said to be members of a wider criminal network targeting motorcycle owners across the region.
Commending the prompt and diligent work of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, reiterated the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.
He urged members of the public who have recently lost motorcycles to come forward with verifiable proof of ownership to facilitate recovery.
