Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has expressed disappointment over his recent encounter with the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, during a flight.

In a video currently circulating on social media, the outspoken artist recounted how he met the former Anambra State governor while onboard a plane. According to him, he was flying in the first-class cabin, while Obi was seated in the economy section of the aircraft.

Portable lamented that despite being in a higher class and taking the initiative to approach the politician, the interaction ended with just a handshake, an outcome he said left him unimpressed.

“The day I see Peter Obi, make I no lie, na handshake I collect. Na first class I dey, Peter Obi dey economy. I go greet Peter Obi, na only handshake e give me,” the singer narrated.

According to him, the security instructed him to do so.

He went further to contrast the experience with what he imagined would have happened if he had met President Bola Ahmed Tinubu instead. According to Portable, he believes Tinubu would have responded more generously.

“If na Tinubu I go collect bundle…,” he added, implying that the president would have given him money.

Meanwhile, the singer’s remarks have generated reactions online, while some criticised his expectations from public officials, some said it as a reflection of the mindset of some Nigerian celebrities towards politicians.
