President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will on Wednesday depart Nigeria for Paris, France, on a short working visit aimed at evaluating his administration’s midterm performance and strategizing for the years ahead.
According to a statement from the Presidency, signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s visit will serve as a crucial retreat for assessing key milestones achieved under his government and reviewing ongoing reforms.
“The President will appraise his administration’s midterm performance and assess key milestones. He will also use the retreat to review the progress of ongoing reforms and engage in strategic planning ahead of his administration’s second anniversary,” Onanuga stated.
According to presidency, during his time in Paris, the President is expected to engage in high-level deliberations with his team to access economic progress and map out strategies to further strengthen national development initiatives.
The retreat, according to Onanuga, “will inform plans to deepen ongoing reforms and accelerate national development priorities in the coming year.”
In light of recent economic indicators, Tinubu’s visit comes at a time when the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reported a growth in the country’s net foreign exchange reserves. The reserves have reportedly surged to $23.11 billion, an increase from the $3.99 billion recorded in 2023. This development, Onanuga noted, is “a testament to the administration’s fiscal reforms.”
“Recent economic strides reinforce the President’s commitment to these efforts, as evidenced by the Central Bank of Nigeria reporting a significant increase in net foreign exchange reserves to $23.11 billion—a testament to the administration’s fiscal reforms since 2023 when net reserves were $3.99 billion”, the statement said further.
