Protest rocks Imo community following the killing of 14 youths by suspected members of the Ebubeagu Security outfit. The security outfits have allegedly killed the youths in Awomama, a community in Oru East local government area of Imo state on their way back from a ceremony. The Police confirmed the incident, which happened on Sunday.

The victims who hailed from Otulu allegedly escorted a man to the neighboring Awomama community for a marriage ceremony.

It was reported that the suspected Ebubeagu operatives opened fire on the youth while returning from the ceremony killing 14 on the spot.

Mr. Nnamdi Agbor, the president-general of the Otulu Community told a local media that the security operatives made sure the men were dead before fleeing the scene. Agbor further stated those who ran into the bush are still missing while others who sustained injuries were hospitalized.

Clips of the protest have been circulating online. In one of the clips, the youths were seen carrying corpses on a wheelbarrow. In another clip, some residents were looking at some corpses dumped inside a gutter along the road.

The police have begun investigation into the matter.
