Police Operatives of the Ebute-Ero division in Lagos have apprehended a suspected traffic robber, who with his gang allegedly stole a large sack filled with assorted human hairs valued at approximately 20 million naira from a moving truck along the CMS-Marina bridge in Lagos.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, where he explained that an intelligence report led to the arrest of one of the suspects, Austin, who hid in the Marina car park after jumping from the Marina bridge to evade arrest.

Austin, who sustained injuries from the jump, was found in possession of the stolen items and has been taken to the hospital for proper medical care under close police watch.

Hundeyin however noted that the force has launched a manhunt to bring under members of his gang to justice.

The statement reads, Detectives of the Ebute-Ero division in Lagos have apprehended a suspected traffic robber and recovered stolen goods worth ₦20 million following a police response to a tip-off about a brazen highway theft on the CMS-Marina Bridge.

“On April 25, 2025, a criminal gang stole a large sack filled with assorted human hairs valued at approximately ₦20 million from a moving truck, unknown to the driver, while in transit along the CMS-Marina Bridge.

“Responding swiftly to a tip-off, police officers arrived at the scene and successfully apprehended one of the suspects, identified as Austine ‘m’ in the Marina car park under the bridge with injuries he sustained when he jumped from the bridge into the car park in his bid to evade arrest.

“He was found in possession of the stolen items and has been taken to a hospital for proper medical attention under close police watch. A manhunt is currently underway to bring other members of his gang to justice.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Jimoh, reiterates the command’s firm commitment to ensure the safety of all road users across the state, and has called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering determination to ensure the safety of all road users across the state. He also calls on residents to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity,” Hundeyin noted.
