Saudi Arabia has announced Sunday, March 30, 2025, as Eid al-Fitr after sighting the crescent of Shawwal. The announcement surfaced on Saturday through Haramin’s official Facebook page, a popular global Muslim community.

As revealed, seeing the crescent of Shawwal indicates that a new Islamic month is near, which means the end of Ramadan. On the flip side, the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs under the guidance of the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar declared today that fasting will continue tomorrow.

The group through its Secretary-General, Ishaq Oloyede revealed that the crescent hasn’t been sighted in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) is already enhancing security in the state ahead of the celebration.

The security agency so far deployed 1,045 officers to the state for the maintenance of law and order. According to the NSCDC Anambra State Command’s Head of Media, Tactical Ops, Okadigbo Edwin in a statement, personnel deployed to the state must be of the best conduct.

To ensure a peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebration, the NSCDC promises all-around-the-clock surveillance in the Anambra state. Further, the security outfit went on to stress the importance of working with the NSCDC to ensure peace.

Edwin narrated the significance of reporting any suspicious movement to the group to combat rising security threats. The group urged Nigerians to keep a close watch on their wards ahead of the celebration.
