Security: IGP re-echoes fight against kidnapping

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has assured Nigerians of the Force’s commitment to continually strategies to curb crimes including violent crimes, and safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens of the country.

Egbetokun said this while commending the officers through a press release by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Monday 24 March 2025. He applauded the officers for their firm collaboration, bravery and dedication to ensuring the country is rid of criminally minded elements,

This followed a coordinated response of operatives of the Force on the 22nd of March, 2025 whose joint security team of the Anambra State Command and other security agencies successfully rescued 3 kidnapped victims abducted at Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area of the State.

The victims were immediately taken to the hospital, having sustained some injuries in the hands of their abductors but are responding to treatment.

According to NPF, the security operatives also responded appropriately to the report of the abduction of a Naval Officer, alongside 2 others at Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory on the 21st of March, 2025.

“The operatives of the FCT Police Command in collaboration with the Nigerian Military, the DSS Hunters and Local Vigilantes swung into action in a bid to rescue the kidnapped victims and they were all rescued on the 23th of March 2025.

“The 3 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unhurt at Anguwan Mu’azu area of Nasarawa State, and the operatives arrested 4 suspected kidnappers in connection with the abduction,” NPF noted.
