Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has urged security agencies to ensure that culprits of staged kidnapping face the full weight of the law. The senatorial north representative made the call today in Abuja, while frowning at the growing trend of staged kidnapping.
He noted that punishing the culprits would send a clear message that such deceit has no place in Nigerian society. He recalled a distress call he received from a parent whose son was said to have been kidnapped. In his statement, police and other relevant security agencies were mobilised for rescue, following the distress call.
He expressed his disappointment after investigators revealed that the young man had staged his kidnapping. Nwoko described the act as a reckless and criminal act, alien to people’s values and must not be allowed.
The senator said the criminal act traumatises families, breaks public trust, and trivialises the suffering of genuine victims. Meanwhile, he pledged his commitment to safeguarding communities in the constituency and ensuring peace and trust prevail among the people.
