President Bola Tinubu has received the victorious Super Falcons at the presidential villa on Monday following their historic triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Tinubu has also conferred national honours of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all 24 players of Nigeria’s WAFCON-winning team, following their 3-2 comeback win over hosts Morocco on Saturday.

While receiving the players and the technical team at the Villa, Tinubu commended them for their “indomitable spirit of resilience, determination and courage,” describing the win as one that “couldn’t have been more historic.”

In addition, the President, while receiving the WAFCON trophy from team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, rewarded each player with the naira equivalent of $100,000.

Furthermore, Tinubu gifted each of the players a three-bedroom flat.

Tinubu said: “On behalf of the grateful nation, I hereby confer on the players and the 11-man technical team national honour of OON.

“I hereby allocate a three-bedroom apartment to each of the players and technical crew. In addition, there’s a cash award of the naira equivalence $100,000 to the 24 players and equivalence of $50,000 to the technical team. Once again, I congratulate you, and I will continue to pray for you.”

The President’s announcment put smiles on the faces of the players and officials, with some seen jumping around the Villa, chanting, “Na our papa be this o.”

Addressing the team further, President Tinubu revealed he intentionally avoided watching the final match between Nigeria and Morocco, saying, “I didn’t want to have high-blood pressure.”

Led by team captain Rasheedat Ajibade and head coach Justin Madugu, the Super Falcons arrived at the Presidential Villa at exactly 4:35 p.m. to a rousing welcome from the President and other dignitaries.
