Uniben students clashes with military men over atm usage

The University of Benin was thrown into chaos as a fight between students and soldiers took place on campus. According to eyewitness accounts, the incident began when a group of soldiers entered the university and attempted to use ATMs.

A female students was holding her phone and the soldier suspected that she was recording them. They called a female soldier to beat up the girl, but the school police were able to rescue the student from the soldier on time

The soldiers got angry and confronted the security for interfering in their matter. The situation quickly escalated, with both sides becoming involved in a physical altercation.

At the time of this report, the main gate of the university is not considered safe, as the soldiers have reportedly threatened to take the students to an army barracks. The chief of staff at the university is urging students and anyone in the vicinity to go home, as the situation remains tense. Eyewitnesses have reported that some individuals were injured, including damages to eyes caused by knives.
