Popular street hit musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has confessed he suffers from mental disorders, stating that he is currently a patient of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro Abeokuta, and on medication.
Following his confrontation with planning officials last week, resulting in him being declared wanted, Portable appeared yesterday in a viral video asking Nigerians and the Ogun state government to forgive him.
The music star, who was reportedly resisting the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has made a plea to Nigerians and the state government via video.
According to reports, the Ota Zonal office of the ministry was on an enforcement assignment in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, before being diverted due to constraints on the Portable’s property.
Resisting law
The officials, whose names are TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, also explained their expertise in sealing the unlicensed property.
Despite identifying themselves, a man claiming to be Portable’s father at the Odogwu bar declined the officials’ request for the building’s authorized design, saying his son was unavailable.
However, the Ogun state police said that the TPL enforcement team was harmed before escaping, prompting the case to be moved to the state criminal investigation department by the Ota Area Command.
The State Police also apprehended nine accomplices, with Portable escaping and his wear about the unknown.
The plead on Nigerians
According to a viral Instagram video on Tuesday, the musician pleaded for Nigerians’ forgiveness and support after being declared a wanted person by the state force command.
He believes his recent attack was spiritually motivated and set up to bring him down for wearing a senator’s vest, Yayi.
The street crooner also claimed to be mad, using his admission card at the Aro hospital where he is on treatment while admitting to fearing the government despite being a government responsibility.
Health claim / Antics
His latest reaction has been to claim he’s a lunatic, which may not encourage a re-evaluation of how mental health claims are addressed in public discourse, but it does highlight the difficulty of distinguishing genuine health claims from tactics used to avoid responsibility.
