The Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has commended the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, for his leadership and commitment to enhancing security in Nigeria.
The governor made this remark during an event at the Borno State Government House, Maiduguri, where he praised the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for its exceptional service in safeguarding lives and property.
As part of efforts to strengthen the operational effectiveness of security agencies in the state, the IGP commissioned a fleet of new operational vehicles and newly constructed housing units for police officers.
During the event, a total of 110 operational vehicles were unveiled and distributed to the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces.
In addition, 500 motorcycles were handed over to security operatives to enhance their mobility and improve response time to security challenges across Borno State.
To further support the welfare of police personnel, 40 newly constructed housing units were also commissioned, complementing the 230 units previously allocated to the force at the Mai Mala Buni Housing Estate.
Governor Zulum however, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to equipping the police with the necessary tools to effectively combat crime and maintain law and order.
He also emphasized the importance of adequate resources in enabling security agencies to function optimally, especially in a state that has faced significant security challenges over the years.
In his response, the IGP expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Borno State Government.
Egbetokun further reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to improving security operations and enhancing the welfare of officers.
The police chief noted that the newly acquired vehicles and motorcycles would significantly enhance rapid response efforts, while the housing units would serve as a morale booster for officers in the state.
