According to reports, seven members of a family have died of suspected food poisoning in Kaura village, in the Yabo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The family head of the victims, Mallam Umaru, confirmed the incident. According to Umaru, the victims mixed a leftover of the previous day meal and mixed it with another prepared food the victims ate.

Umaru stated the victims allegedly died after eating the food. Further added that the corpses and remnants of the food had been handed over to the hospital and police to unfold the circumstances surrounding their deaths. In addition, the seven people who died are Umaru’s two wives and five children.

The Chairman of Yabo LGA, Haliru Kilgori, also urged public members to take caution. He said, “It is necessary to see what happened and take action and ensure that food and drinks are covered at all times,”
