Terrorists kill two soldiers in Kastina

An ambush by a gang of Terrorists has claimed the lives of Two soldiers from the 32 battalion of the Nigerian Army in Katsina. Also, about four other military personnel suffered severe injuries due to the attack. While a lieutenant is currently missing.

Meanwhile, residents of Shimfida, the community where the attack took place, confirmed that some terrorists lost their lives in the attack. The residents confirmed that the ambush occurred on Wednesday. However, the Nigerian Army has remained tight-lipped about the attack, and the Katsina State hasn’t released any statement to update the situation.

Findings revealed that the soldiers were attacked by the terrorists while escorting a group of traders to Gurbi. En route to the village, a Military Armoured Personal Carrier stepped on An improvised explosive device (IED) snared by the terrorist. Eye witnessed confirmed that the vehicle exploded after stepping on the IED before the terrorist began shooting at the soldiers.

Further revelation disclosed that the soldiers responded immediately, which resulted in an exchange of gunfire. Community members of Shimfida divulged how soldiers usually escort traders to neighboring towns. They recalled how some residents had fled the community for safer havens due to the heavy presence of the terrorists.

Eyewitnesses attested that none of the traders were killed or sustained any injury. They described how an intervention of a convoy of six military vehicles and a fighter jet repelled the terrorists. Forcing some of the terrorists to flee.
