After receiving threats of killing victims of the Abuja-Kaduna Train abduction, the Families of the kidnapped passengers have taken to the streets of Abuja to solicit FG intervention. The concerned families revealed that the abductors are threatening to kill the abductees if the FG fail to heed their call.

In reaction, the family called on the Federal Government to act swiftly and ensure the safety of their loved ones. One of the protesters, Matilda Mohammed urged the Federal Government to seek the safety of those in the net of the terrorists. Rhetorically, Mohammed asked if the families should expect the return of the abductees or prepare for their burial.

She urged the Federal Government not to turn deaf ears to the plea of the family and the demands of the terrorists as well. Further, she called on all relevant authorities and stakeholders to rise to the occasion and secure their release.

Another protester, Suliamon Usman recalled how a visit to the National Security Adviser’s Office fail to yield a positive result. He illustrated how the Adviser failed to grant the audience to their presence. Usman went on to describe the trauma of the affected families over the issue. He revealed that members of the affected families have been in-and-out of the hospital ever since they got the news.

Additionally, the Attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28 has sparked various reactions from local and international bodies. The ill-fated occurrence claimed the lives of many passengers aboard, with 26 officially missing. More than 150 passengers are untraceable in the aftermath of the ugly incident.

The recent protest emerged as the first in Abuja ever since the unfortunate occurrence. Numerous bodies, government officials, and organizations have all called on the government to address the issue. As it stands, no tangible progress has been made regarding the release of the victims.
